Regata Grandes Veleiros. Tall Ship Races

This weekend we visited the Tall Ship Races in LisbonUnfortunately we didn’t manage to enter aboard the Spanish and the Russian ships, with 111 and 108 meters respectively, due to the never ending queues. The Portuguese Sagres was also  out of the question for the same reason. However we did visit the polish Fryderyk Chopin with 57.17 m length (=187.565 ‘). We playedPopeye the sailor manand there was also time to some piracy adventures.  I had time for a small  talk with the young crew, who joyfully expressed  this life time experience: many teenagers, many nationalities, many cultural experiences. They also confessed they hadn’t much time for sightseeing; the work was much, the visitors many and the time to rest very little, but they promisse to come back for a proper visit to this unique European capital. On sunday, we got up with the chicken but no luck. It was farewell time and we could only watch ships preparing for  sailing . Later we watched the parade of sail towards their next destination:Spain.
